World renowned classical pianist Evgeny Kissin generously donated a concert to Save A Child’s Heart

July 8, 2019

As London was desperately trying to cope with the most unusual temperatures for late June (peaking at 32C) around 500 lucky people made their way into the climatized Wigmore Hall in Central London on June 29th. The Wigmore Hall, an intimate venue known for its classical repertoire, had a special evening in store, as world renowned pianist Evgeny Kissin took his place at the piano to enlighten us with his beautiful rendition of Beethoven’s finest. All proceeds raised would be given to fund worldwide Save a Child’s Heart projects.

The prestigious event was quickly sold out within weeks, hosting over 200 friends of SACH. Guests were invited to a private reception with the star himself after his recital. Following welcoming words by SACH UK chairwoman Olly Honigman, a brief video was screened, introducing the work of SACH around the world. President of SACH Switzerland, Hannah Shabathai who was the key person who arrange Evgeny to donate his talents then introduced Mr. Kissin and all sat back to enjoy the beautiful music played so skillfully on the Steinway & Sons Grand Piano.

Mr. Kissin delighted us with four beautiful pieces, Sonata No 17 in D minor, Op. 3, No 2 “Tempest” and Sonata No21. In C minor, Op. 53 “Waldstein”. Listening to these pieces left everyone with goose bumps and a longing for the evening to continue. Following a short encore, guests made their way to the bar to enjoy tasty canapes and raise their glasses to Mr. Kissin, now joined by his wife, and SACH organizers. SACH Israel President Professor Schachner gave an inspiring speech about the organisation, its past achievements and future aspirations. People stayed to chat and only left as the Wigmore Hall staff informed us of the legal requirements to close the venue.
