Imagine changing a child’s life forever, with only a few hours each week of your valuable time. As a part-time volunteer, you can arrange between one and four shifts per week, at the Save a Child's Heart Legacy Heritage Children’s Home.

Save a Child's Heart Legacy Heritage Children’s Home

The volunteer shifts are Sunday to Thursday from 9:00-12:00 and 16:00-18:00. The children eat lunch and go kulala ('rest' in Swahili) in the middle of the day. Your role is to plan activities for children of all ages, who are both pre- and post-surgery.

Submitting an Application

To submit an online application, please refer to the following guidelines:

Step 1
Find the dates you are looking to volunteer followed by the month in which the application should be submitted.
Applications will be viewed on a rolling basis and you can begin to submit applications 1 year prior to the date that you are interested in volunteering.

Please allow two to three weeks after submission for a response from the Volunteer Coordinator. Before your interview can take place, we need to have your résumé/CV and one letter of recommendation on file (Recommendation letters can be sent at a later date if they are not readily available). These documents should be sent via email to ylcoordinator@saveachildsheart.com, along with any questions or concerns.

*All Canadian volunteers must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening Police reference check – please contact our Canadian office for more information at yp@saveachildsheart.ca*

Important requirements for all volunteers!
• Letter from your physician confirming that you are physically and
mentally capable of volunteering with children who are ill.
• Proof of medical insurance for the duration of your time in Israel (this can be an add-on to your current insurance plan or in the form of travelers insurance)
• Emergency contact information
• Proof of Vaccinations against HepA, HepB, TB, and the flu
