Prof. Tiberiu Ezri

Head of the Anesthesia Department
Prof. Tiberiu Ezri was born in Romania where he studied medicine at the University School of Medicine in Timisoara. Upon arrival in Israel, Prof. Ezri served in the Israeli armed forces where he reached the rank of Major.
Prof. Ezri received his specialization certificate in anesthesia at the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot. He stayed at Kaplan for over fifteen years becoming Deputy Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Head of the Postanesthesia Unit. In 2000, Prof. Ezri was appointed Head of the Anesthesia Department at the Wolfson Medical Center.
Prof. Ezri spent ten years as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Texas Medical School. He maintains a close relationship with the University of Texas, where, for several years, until 2004, he worked as a staff anesthesiologist for one month every year.
Prof. Ezri is an Associate Professor at Tel Aviv University’s Sackler School of Medicine. He serves on several professional societies and has been a reviewer of many medical journals. He has presented papers at over 100 scientific meetings, as well as having over 150 manuscripts published.

Dr. Vadim Hazin

Deputy Head of the Anesthesia Department
Dr. Vadim Khazin was born in Russia and studied medicine at the Second Moscow Medical Institute.
He worked at several hospitals in Moscow before immigrating to Israel in 1990. Dr. Khazin has been at the Wolfson Medical Center since 1991, for the past four years as Deputy Head of the Department of Anesthesia.
Dr. Khazin has taken a fellowship in pediatric anesthesia at Sick Children’s Hospital in Toronto, and a further fellowship on the artificial heart in New York. He has passed a course on transesophageal echocardiography in San Diego.
Dr. Khazin is the principal anesthesiologist involved with the Save a Child’s Heart project, providing anesthesia to children operated on, both in Israel and overseas. Dr. Khazin was in the Ukraine most recently in June 2008 when he traveled with two other Save a Child’s Heart staff members to investigate a potential future partnership and hospital facilities in Kharkov.

Dr. Sherman Alexander

Anesthesiologist
Dr. Sherman Alexander studied medicine at the University of Samara Medical School in Russia.
He worked as an anesthetist at the Regional Hospital in Samara for several years before immigrating to Israel in 1991. Two years later he began his residency in anesthesiology at the Wolfson Medical Center.
Dr. Alexander has taken a fellowship in pediatric anesthesia in Munich, Germany and has clinical experience at Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He has passed a course in transesophageal echocardiography taken in Zurich. Dr. Alexander did his national service as a doctor in the Israeli Navy, where he also took a course in Maritime Medicine, Diving Medicine & Hyperbaric Therapy.
Since 1999, Dr. Alexander has been a senior anesthesiologist at the Wolfson Medical Center, specializing in adult and pediatric cardiac surgery.

Dr. Simon Yakobashvili

Anaesthesiologist
Dr. Simon Yakobashvili graduated from the Tbilisi Medical School in Georgia where he worked for several years as a specialist in obstetric anesthesia and Director of the Department of Anesthesia.
Dr. Yakobashvili immigrated to Israel in 1992 and two years later obtained his Israeli medical license. He immediately started his residency in anesthesia at the Wolfson Medical Center. Since 2001, Dr. Yakobashvili has been an attending anesthesiologist at the Wolfson Medical Center, specializing in cardiovascular, thoracic and pediatric anesthesia.
Dr. Yakobashvili has taken a fellowship in pediatric cardiac anesthesia in Munich and a course in pain medicine in London.
